The User Experience of Turning 30
While its not a good reason to be MIA from my blog for a month, a couple of weeks ago I turned 30. I had been looking at that date for over a year with a certain amount of dread and excitement. I don't often celebrate my birthday, but this year I wanted a blowout, and thats how my birthday turned into a week-long event.
I really wanted to go to Vegas for my 30th. Its just a really fun town to party in! As luck would have it, the NNG User Experience conference was going on that week. So I hit the boss up, got the OK, and I was going to Vegas baby!
And I had the best time. From my "dirty thirty" party that my beautiful wife threw for me back in Denver, to the crazy night out with all my new friends at the NNG conference (thanks to Steven, Sarah, Mark, the Gartner and Progressive crews!), and finally with friends and family going to shows and having amazing meals, I had the best time.
At at time when I was looking at all the things accomplished over 30 years (or not) while looking ahead to the next two thirds of my life , it felt great to spend a week just celebrating where I am. I've had incredible luck in marriage, family, career, and health. Looking forward I feel that the best is yet to come.
Overall, a fantastic experience.
