All-Star Parties cont.

11:20pm

Blogging from the bathroom of the NBPA All-Star gala, where about 10 guys are playing dice in the corner.

Already seen Dominique Wilkins, Grant Hill, Moses Malone, Terrell Davis, and a whole lot more...

On to Carmelo's party next.

Update 3am (eternal)

Got to Carmelo's party only to get turned around because there were some nasty fights and they closed it down.

Update 3:30am

My wife managed to get invited to Terrell Davis's party at the end of the NBPA gala. I just got introduced to the man himself. Not everyday you get to shake the hand of a Super Bowl MVP, especially at three in the morning!

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm going to get home before sunrise...

Blogging from the All-Star Parties

10:20pm

Its good to be married to the coolest nightlife girl in Denver. I'm sitting at a table in the Bash nightclub waiting for Fabulus to show up and lay it down. Later tonight we're hoping to get to Carmelo's party with Ludacris and Lil Jon! I already warned the appropriate parties that I'll most likely be in the office later than usual.

Update: 2:10am

My wife is toasting Crunk Juice (a new energy drink, not the album) with Lil Jon in the Palladium, while LeBron James and Carmelo look on from behind a slew of security guards from both the the club and their own entourage (presumably to keep everything "legal"). My Bro's going to be jealous.

There's Nothing Better than a Good Italian Dinner

Cirella's Restaurant Logo

I live and work in Denver, but the mothership for my company is back in Long Island. In the past few years visiting I've been taken to a nice Italian restaurant there called Cirella's many times and its now become a place I have to visit every time I come to New York.

First of all, there's something different about getting italian in New York. Denver has a few good restaurants (notably Carmines), but for some reason its just better in NY. Every single dish on the menu is good, hearty, and just hits the spot. The decor is simple, the service is well above average, but it all comes down to the food. My order tonight was the Pollo Cirella and a bottle of Toscolo chianti to share with my friends. My wife is not much for chianti, but I absolutely love a good chianti (no fava beans though...). All of it added up to me sitting back in my hotel room with that wonderfully warm, sedated, and content feeling that starts in my stomach but spreads throughout my chest that only a good italian meal can provide.

Growing up I never really understood what the big deal was about a good spaghetti or chicken parmesan, and even in adulthood italian was pasta or pizza. But after Cirella's, italian has a whole new meaning to me (and my tummy).
